Where it all began

Where it all began

As a little girl I remember being barefoot sand in my toes, dry hot wind in my hair, sun on my skin pinnacles and spires all around me. Lizards slithering through the rocks begging me to chase them. The chalky feeling of sandstone at my fingertips as I climb every formation I can find. Arrowheads, ancient pottery, homesteads at the edge of my feet. Pictographs along the alcoves and in the dwellings. Camp in the distance. My dogs and four-wheeler nearby. This was the beginning of my childhood as a little girl. The desert of Utah was my first home.
From the red rock desert to the mountains we went, Colorado. Barefoot, rivers run through my toes, crisp fresh air on my skin, trees above, mountain peaks towering around, fresh berries in the sun waiting to be picked. Climbing through the many caves we would find along the seams of the mountains. Four wheeling over the passes and into the rural higher elevation. Fields of vegetation flowers and wildlife lining the earth. Abandon cabins, mines and remnants of the past scattered down the cliff sides. Mountain view at nearly every angle. Snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice skating in the winter. Unforgettable feelings of deep powder below my board, mountains at my fingertips, and the ski town directly below. Utah and Colorado were my childhood, and it was incredible.
Boots on, fields of hay bales lined neatly, tractors in the distance, not a tree in site, miles of farmland, rolling hills, big beautiful sky cultivates the landscape. Horses, Cows, Goats, Sheep, Donkeys, herd dogs and farmers. Eagles, vultures and hawks perched in big, tall wicked trees. Looking in a different direction tall sharp jagged mountain peaks, moss lining the trees and rocks as you enter the tree line. Clean crisp clear lakes with mountains peaks in the distance rolling hills leading to them. Vegetation, flowers and life flourishing beneath my feet. Cold brutal winters, ravaging wind, temperatures below zero. The rhythm of trains rushing down the tracks horns blaring the feeling of home captivates me. Bright stars and auroras fill the night sky. Montana my home I share with my husband and daughter, and it couldn’t be better.
With this beautiful life I have lived I have grown such a great gratitude for Mother Earth. A special connection and appreciation for all the incredible things that make up this enchanting world we live. The feeling of being connected and whole with earth is a great sense of euphoria that is unexplainable. That’s when it hit me, I love brining joy to people, and I love earth. If i could do something to help people find a sense of happiness that they are missing, just maybe I can do it with my photography. My hope with each of my fine art pieces is that I can shed light on the incredible sense of euphoria life brings. I hope it will help others to perceive things in a different light leading to a profound happiness and appreciation deep within your being. To feel life in a different sense. Please bear with me as I am just beginning this journey of photography. I edit from scratch bringing out the true qualities of the images and making each piece more of me. Or I don’t edit at all posting raw images. High contrast with a dramatic edge has always caught my eye the most. Occasionally my life takes me on a light and airy adventure as well. Thank you for taking the time to read more about this journey I call life.
